Minding the Gap 2018 by Bing Liu

 Synopsis

Bing Liu has a collection of over 12 years of footage that he captured during his lifetime in his hometown of Rockford, IL. Minding the gap is the story of three young friends adversely affected by the extremities of life. Liu shoots his 23-year-old friend Zack’s messed up relationship with his longtime girlfriend worsen just after the birth of their first child. He also captures the life of a 17-year-old Keire who recently lost his father and is already struggling with racial crisis. Minding the gap beautifully narrates the chink between childhood and adulthood through excerpts of Bing’s captured footages, as he tries to correlate his own relationship with his friends, his past, and his camera.
