Somewhere down in the core of New York's ultra-customary Hasidic Jewish people group, Menashe—a kind, hapless market assistant—battles to make a decent living and dependably parent his young child, Rieven, following his better half Leah's demise. Custom precludes Menashe from bringing up his child alone, so Rieven's strict uncle embraces him, leaving Menashe devastated. In the interim, however Menashe appears to mishandle each test in his way, his rabbi stipends him one extraordinary week with Rieven before Leah's dedication. It's his opportunity to substantiate himself an appropriate man of confidence and parenthood, and reestablish regard among his cynics.
